We’re a homeschooling family with five young kids and lots of extended family. Since I already have a homeschooling blog and occasionally make a post on my herbal and alternative health blog, I figured it was about time I got a family blog going to keep everyone updated.
Thanks to those who helped me choose our title – “Hugs and Chaos”, which aptly describes our house most days.
For example, as I’m typing this, Jacob, the 1-year-old is prancing around on the dining room table without a diaper, since he loves to tug on the velcro straps until it falls off. A couple of his sibling are running around shrieking about his lack of a diaper. Tim, our 3-year-old has joined him on the table, since as long as one other kid is doing it, it must be ok, right?
Alex, our responsible 9-year-old is giving stern and frustrated orders for the 6 and 7-year-olds to, “Get over here and help me with the dishes.” They, of course, know that if they wait long enough, he’ll just get tired of the “TV is off until the dishes are done” rule and just do them himself.
So, there’s the chaos, now I just need to scatter a few “hugs”
A little chasing of Jacob to make him smile.
A game with Tim.
A back scratch for Chris.
A small gift for Brooke.
And some shared ‘grown-up’ activity with Alex.
